About Us

We teach real dance.  And it’s fun.

Center Stage Dance is a fun, creative, non-competitive studio that offers structured dance lessons with a focus on technique, body control, and spatial awareness. We offer traditional ballet, tap, and jazz classes in which we place an emphasis on showmanship, stage direction and blocking, and backstage etiquette.

And we have a lot of fun!  Sometimes we forget we’re actually learning!  Our recreational dance studio welcomes students at all levels, and we encourage one’s personal best.  We get to know personally every student and have a great rapport with our dance parents.  We pride ourselves on maintaining a relaxed, motivating, drama-free environment for our dancers AND their families.

We love our dance families.  And it shows.

Center Stage Dance offers its families a positive dance experience at affordable prices.  Throughout the year, we celebrate holidays together, enjoy participating in the Hernando Christmas Parade, and we put on an annual production like no other!  Strong, consistent communication with our families is important to us, and we make it easy to stay in the know about what’s going on and what’s coming up. We hug, we encourage, and we reward. Our goal is to ensure our dancers and their families feel special every time we get the chance.

We are qualified.  And we love this studio.

Amanda Herring, Studio Director/Instructor, brings over 30 years of dance experience to her students. Her lifetime love of dance and performance inspired the Center Stage Dance concept.  Ms. Amanda adores teaching the youngest ballet, tap, and creative movement Center Stage dancers.  She also teaches tap to all levels, oversees studio operations, and creates and delivers a first-rate, entertaining annual production!

Kirstin Kelly, Sr. Instructor,  urges strong technique and a solid work ethic while fostering the love of dance is every dancer.  Her quality of instruction is no doubt the result of her dance education and professional experience.  And her ability to bring out the artistic expression and confidence in a dancer is the result of her passion for dance and her wish to instill that passion in every student.  Kirstin teaches ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical/contemporary styles, and musical theater.

Cassie Smithmeier, Instructor, brings years of studio dance experience and over 12 years of professional experience to CSD.  She is creative, sassy, and fun.  Cassie supports age appropriate music and costuming, and she works to ensure dancers feel great about themselves.  She teaches Hip Hop…and she jams!

Debbi Ewing, Office Manager, offers extreme organization and efficiency all with a smile and plenty of goofiness that makes you feel right at home.  Having been heavily involved in theater and dance with her own daughter, Debbi appreciates the arts, supports the mission of our studio, and has a unique understanding of what goes on behind the scenes…and how to manage it all.  She’s friendly and loving, yet she runs a tight ship and is exceedingly organized and on the ball!

Mandy Schooling, Accounts, is accurate and sharp!  She loves the studio and its families, and she works to process payments, manage charges, and answer parent questions with first-rate professionalism.  Mandy has 20+ years of experience as a business professional…and she runs a household of 6 like nobody’s business.  She’s thorough, precise, and most of all, a warm, kind addition to the CSD team.

We have a well-appointed studio.  And it rocks.

From the professional-level dance floor (the same as installed at Broadway Dance Center, Joffrey Ballet School, and the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Ballet) and the sound system, to the parent waiting area and the heights of each ballet barre, the Center Stage Dance studio was carefully and deliberately crafted with dancers and families in mind.

The music library is extensive, the 2 studios with over 30 feet of mirrors allows for self- awareness and improved lines, and the décor lends itself to a comfortable, inspiring environment. Parents may even view dancers in both studios on closed-circuit televisions in the lobby.

We want you happy.  And we mean it.

If you’re contemplating how to choose a dance school, we encourage you to always visit the studio you’re considering, meet the instructors, and ask the opinions of those already enrolled.  In a highly competitive market, we understand that you have choices, and we are grateful that you took the time to consider Center Stage Dance.  We’re thrilled that you want to dance, and we hope you find the studio that’s right for you.
